We started Rive Droite in 2016 from a desire to create change and contribute, in our own way, to making sustainability the new standard in fashion
Our goal
Unite our environmental imperatives with our ethical commitments to create long-lasting, timeless bags and accessories.
Repurposing Textile Industry Overstock
In the USA, 17 million tons of textile waste are thrown out every year, while only 2.5 million are recycled (US Environmental Protection Agency, 2018 data).
It all starts with the materials.
Why produce new ones when, not far from our workshop in Casablanca, there's already a supply of sturdy, long-lasting textiles: recycled cotton, post-industrial denim scraps and overstock fabric from the textile industry?
That's why we're obsessed with locating these materials, recycling them, upcycling them, diverting them from their initial uses, and transforming them.
Our objective: to repurpose textile industry surplus through ecodesign, a creative process that incorporates environmental protection throughout the product design process to reduce our ecological footprint.
Producing Differently: The “Dudes” at the Heart of our Vision of Society
From the beginning, creating our own model for local, fair trade production has been one of our primary social concerns.
At the center of our innovative model you'll find our “Dudes,” experienced designers once facing job insecurity who have now, with our help, started their own businesses.
How?
We micro-finance the setup of their own workshops and the purchase of sewing machines. We also take care of the paperwork so that they can concentrate on their expertise: designing and creating.
It's a long-term partnership. We provide a regular income so that they can explore new frontiers, and they work with us to help Rive Droite grow.
That's our vision of fair trade.
